The year 2025 marks the inaugural Yang Family Foundation STEM Educator Awards, created in close collaboration with Fulton County Schools to honor excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
On October 30, 2025, during the Fulton County Schools Legacy of Excellence Luncheon, seven outstanding STEM teachers were recognized for their exemplary contributions to student learning and innovation in the classroom. Each honoree received a $5,000 award - divided equally between personal use ($2,500) and school funding ($2,500), the latter designated for classroom initiatives or professional development.

"Here is how I was able to use the amazing award :
The award funds were used to purchase a schoolwide Breakout EDU digital subscription along with eight Breakout EDU kits, which include locks and tools for creating escape room–style learning experiences in the classroom. These resources have allowed teachers across the school to implement highly engaging, problem-solving activities that foster collaboration, critical thinking, and perseverance. Students are highly motivated by the hands-on, gamified format and actively apply academic content while working together to solve challenges. The digital subscription also provides access to a wide variety of pre-designed digital and physical breakouts, saving teachers time while supporting meaningful instructional integration across grade levels.
In addition, I was personally able to use a portion of the award funds to help pay for a semester of my Specialist degree program at Augusta University, directly supporting my professional growth and strengthening the instructional practices I bring back to my students and school community.
Thank you again so much for this award!"
